ABOUT MISS KHANDWALA
Mona Khandwala is a consultant Ophthalmic and Oculoplastic surgeon at the Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust. Her private practice is based at the Spire Alexandra Hospital, Walderslade and Somerfield Hospital, Maidstone.
Miss Khandwala is a general ophthalmologist and as well as carrying out cataract surgery and performing other ophthalmic treatments, has a special interest in oculoplastic surgery of the eyelids and surrounding structures including skin cancers as well as surgery of the tear drainage system.
She has trained in ophthalmology in the South East of England, including Maidstone Hospital before undertaking a second fellowship in Norwich under Mr Bijan Beigi. During this period, she also held the post of Honorary Lecturer of the University of East Anglia and was actively involved in teaching medical students, whilst pursuing her research interests.
These include cataract surgery as well as newer ways of imaging eyelid skin cancers. Miss Khandwala has several publications in international journals and has delivered several lectures both nationally and internationally in her chosen field.
